Former actor-athlete and now senatorial aspirant Monsour Del Rosario joined the Makatindig Grand Assembly Walk last Saturday morning, April 23.
Del Rosario joined the supporters of the Leni-Kiko tandem as they walked from Ayala Triangle Gardens to Osmena Highway, before taking the caravans to Macapagal Boulevard, Pasay City, where the National Capital Region Grand Rally was held.
“It is heartwarming to see people united for a purpose to improve our country. I don't think it's just by chance that I am now with 1Sambayan, which supports the Leni-Kiko tandem. I believe it is destined because my purpose as a senatorial candidate and the purpose of the people who support 1Sambayan and the Leni-Kiko tandem are the same. We have the same desire to uplift the lives of every Filipino through a trustworthy government that is committed to public service," said Del Rosario, former Makati City District 1 congressman.
Del Rosario is part of Partido Reporma, but was recently included in the 1Sambayan senatorial slate affiliated with the Leni-Kiko tandem. Del Rosario explains that as early as 2021, 1Sambayan had already approached him to join their slate. “1Sambayan has always wanted me to be part of their senatorial slate, and I wanted to join, too. But the reason I declined is that they wanted me to campaign with them exclusively, which I couldn’t do because I am also with Partido Reporma. But after the events last March when our presidential candidate resigned from the party and Partido Reporma declared support for VP Leni Robredo, then that’s when things turned around, and I am now with 1Sambayan."
He was referring to Sen. Ping Lacson, who resigned from Partido Reporma to run as an independent candidate last March.
Although not part of Leni-Kiko's official "Tropang Angat" senatorial slate, Del Rosario remains fully supportive of the tandem and its aspirations for the country.
“We at 1Sambayan, what we are offering to the public is an alternative list of senators. Even though the rest of us are not part of the official endorsed senatorial slate, we are pretty sure that we support VP Leni Robredo and Sen. Kiko Pangilinan 100 percent. I would like to remind our voters how important it is to choose the right senators who fully support the president and vice president they elect. When the time comes, we senators will be with the president in implementing the laws we will need to develop the country and uplift the lives of all Filipinos. That is why I encourage our countrymen to choose senators who are true allies of the president," added Del Rosario.
