The Philippine Army's (PA) Army Support Command (ASCOM) has played a "crucial" role in keeping the country peaceful for more than five decades already, Lt. Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr., PA Commanding General, said.
Brawner made the remark after he graced the ASCOM's 51st founding anniversary which carried the theme "51 Years of Sustaining the Force, Providing Selfless Service Towards a Stronger Philippine Army" at the ASCOM Multi-Purpose Hall, in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City last Friday, April 22.
"As Team ASCOM commences another year of service guided by the virtues of servant leadership, may you continue to steer the Army towards greater organizational success," Brawner said in a statement Sunday, April 24.
Brawner lauded ASCOM's role in supporting ground forces against Islamic State (ISIS)-inspired terrorists that occupied Marawi City in 2017.
The Army chief also cited ASCOM's deployment of 21 military trucks that delivered much-needed relief goods to Typhoon Odette-hit areas in Visayas and Mindanao late last year.
He then underscored ASCOM’s essential role in the fulfillment of his thrust to push-down resources to Army units nationwide so they can perform their tasks effectively.
ASCOM is tasked to cater to the Philippine Army major units’ requirements in terms of firepower, transportation, organizational, and maintenance of equipment in support of the accomplishment of the Army’s missions.
