“Indeed, our nation lost an outstanding diplomat and highly respected journalist who had been instrumental in strengthening and flourishing Philippine – China relations,” the CFBCI said as it also lauded Sta. Romana’s expertise and selfless service that paved the way for better RP-PROC cooperation.

The CFBCI had always been supportive of Sta. Romana’s vision of maintaining mutually beneficial bilateral ties towards a more meaningful and deeper diplomatic relation.

As a manifestation of our support, in April 2019, CFBCI was part of the Philippine delegation to China, that paid a courtesy call on Ambassador Sta. Romana,” CFBCI added.

The organization also feted him at a testimonial dinner prior to his assumption of duty in Beijing, China.

To have a better understanding of the South China Sea (SCS) dispute, the CFBCI also invited Sta. Romana as resource speaker in a webinar called “The South China Sea: From a Flashpoint of Conflict to a Sea of Cooperation” last July 2018 which aimed to enlighten Filipinos on the situation in the SCS.
