Woman caught shoplifting for toiletries in Cavite

BACOOR CITY, Cavite – A woman was arrested in a grocery store in Barangay Molino 3 while shoplifting for toiletries on Thursday, April 21.

The Bacoor City Police Station said the suspect, identified as Lea Catalan, stole 10 bottles of shampoo and four deodorant products worth over P4,000.

S/Master Sgt. Robertson Vallejo said the suspect, a resident of Dasmariñas City, admitted to being a habitual thief.

The supermarket's security officer recognized the suspect when she entered the premises and kept an eye on her while she was shopping.

After going around the store, the suspect paid for bread and junk food but kept the toiletries inside her sling bag.

"Ang kinukuha po ngayon, gatas, shampoo, 'yung mamahalin na (She is now taking milk, shampoo, the expensive items)," Vallejo told the Manila Bulletin.

"Tapos ibebenta lang nila 'yun nang mga P100, parang bargain ba, 'dun lang din sa area nila sa Dasmariñas (Then, they will sell it at a bargain price within their area in Dasmariñas, for around P100 each)," he added.

The items stolen by Catalan cost around P250 to P350 each.

The suspect is under police custody and faces theft charges.
