United City FC’s struggles continued in the AFC Champions League after suffering a 5-0 defeat at the hands of host BG Pathum United Thursday, April 21 in Pathum Thani, Thailand.

After conceding the opening goal shortly before halftime, United City unraveled as the defending Thai League 1 champions put up four in the final 45 minutes that resulted in a third successive loss.

It was the worst setback for United City since its ACL campaign began last Friday at BG Stadium, thus dropping to the bottom of Group G.

After conceding a late goal in a 1-0 loss to South Korean side Jeonnam Dragons, UCFC fell 3-0 to crack Australian squad Melbourne City.

United City kept the match scoreless when Pathum struck the opener in the 42nd courtesy of Kanokpon Puspakom.

The scoreline stood until the 75th when Worachit Kanitsribumphen doubled Pathum’s lead after a defensive miscue by United City.

Diogo made it 3-0 five minutes later, then United City’s JJ Robertson scored an own goal in the 82nd.

Pathomphon Charoenrattanaphirom capped off the onslaught by finding the mark off Diogo’s through ball.
