Trillanes: True unity is the house-to-house campaign of Leni-Kiko volunteers

Former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV on Monday, April 18, said the conduct of the house-to-house campaign by volunteers for the Leni Robredo-Kiko Pangilinan tandem have become the “real face of unity”.

Trillanes, who is again vying for a Senate seat under the Leni-Kiko slate, noted that true unity is found in people from various social classes coming together to visit homes and campaign in public markets and transport terminals.

“Ano pa ang mas inspiring na larawan kaysa sa mga tao na may iba’t ibang (What is more inspiring in photos than people with different) social background pero sabay-sabay nagbabahay-bahay at ‘di alintana ang init at ulan para ikampanya lamang si VP Leni? (but they are going house-to-house together and they are not bothered by the heat and rain just to campaign for VP Leni?),” said Trillanes.

“‘Pag ang isang artista at kanyang mga fans ay bumaba sa mga komunidad upang makihalobilo sa tao, hindi ba ‘yan ang tunay na team unity? (If an artist and fans go to communities to mingle with people, isn’t that real team unity?),” he asked.

The Magdalo leader cited “class divisions have been melted by VP Leni’s powerful message of love and unity.”

“These gestures of kapit-bisig (unity), driven by pure love for country, are done by tens of thousands of citizens every day in every corner of the country,” said Trillanes.

Fresh off the Holy Week, Vice President Leni Robredo’s daughters and celebrity supporters are swinging back into their house-to-house campaign in various parts of the country.

On Monday, Robredo sisters Aika and Tricia went on to campaign in Cagayan and Pasig City, respectively.

Aika, the eldest daughter of the Vice President, shared about the leadership of her mother, during her meet and greet with the indigenous community in Peñablanca.

“Kung ano ‘yung paniniwala natin, kung saang lugar man tayo galing, kung sino man ‘yung sinusuportahan natin, wala po sa kaniya ‘yun... Kung saan siya pinakakailangan, doon siya tutulong (Whatever our beliefs, wherever place we came from, whoever we support, that’s nothing to her...She would help where she is needed the most),” Aika said.

In Cagayan, she also visited the Annafunan East Core Shelter, one of the communities affected by Typhoon Ulysses, and led the house-to-house campaign with volunteers in Baggao.

For her part, Tricia, a medical doctor, made her rounds at Pasig Mega Market and Barangay San Isidro in Taytay, Rizal on the same day.

Joining the house-to-house activities were actress Nikki Valdez (Cagayan), comedian Pokwang (Antipolo), social media influencer Pipay (Laguna), actor Jake Ejercito (Mandaluyong), Alora Sasam (Bukidnon), and Pia Magalona (Antipolo).

Trillanes said this is proof of Robredo’s ability to bring out the best in the Filipino people. “‘Yung (The) message of hope ni (of) VP Leni appeals to our basic decency.”

The former senator said those campaigning for Leni-Kiko on the ground have a positive outlook in life.

“Kahit binabash, cool lang. Matiyagang nagpapaliwanag. ‘Yan kasi ang pakiusap ng kandidato (Even they are being bashed, they are just cool. They patiently explain it to them. Because that’s the appeal of their candidate),” he said.
