Man dies after being hit with ‘dos por dos’ in Manila


A 41-year-old man died after a construction worker repeatedly struck his head with a “dos por dos” (2x2 piece of wood) in Sta. Ana, Manila on Saturday, April 16.

Police Lt. Col. Orlando Miranda Jr., commander of Manila Police District (MPD) Station 6, identified the victim as Jesus Meravalles, a resident of Bagong Sikat, Brgy. 905, Punta, Sta. Ana.

Police immediately arrested the suspect identified as Henry Macato, 54, also a resident of Brgy. 905.

Meravalles was walking along the street at around 1 p.m. when the suspect appeared and suddenly struck him multiple times on the head with a 33-inch piece of wood, the police report said.

Police said the victim managed to go home but later fell unconscious.

The victim was rushed to the Sta. Ana Hospital but died on Sunday evening, April 17.

Police investigators are still determining the motive behind the killing.

The suspect will be charged with murder, the police said. (Terence Ranis)
