MB Daily News Update: Race against time to find more survivors


A heart-rending tally of 137 fatalities with 28 other persons missing was reported by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) as rescuers race against time to find more survivors in the aftermath of tropical depression Agaton.

Pope Francis and Manila Archbishop Jose Cardinal Advincula called for prayers for the victims of the latest weather disaster to hit the country.

Good Friday saw the return of public display of penitence from Filipino self-flagellants, particularly in Cavite, Bulacan, and Pangasinan.

And with the Holy Week exodus virtually transforming Metro Manila into another lockdown-like atmosphere, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) reported more than 33,000 travelers on Good Friday alone.
