Typhoon Malakas, formerly “Basyang,” continues to move away from the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR). It was last spotted 1,935 kilometers (km) east-northeast of extreme northern Luzon.

It has maximum sustained winds of 149 kilometers per hour (kph), gustiness of up to 170 kph, and it is moving northeast at 20 kph. It is no longer expected to “directly affect” the Philippines.

“Within the next 24 hours ay makakaranas po tayo ng magandang panahon. Medyo mainit at maalinsangan. Ang mga pag-ulan lamang na mararanasan ay mga isolated rains (Within the next 24 hours we will experience generally fair weather. It may be hot and humid. The only rains that we may experience are isolated rains),” said PAGASA weather specialist Ezra Bulquerin.

No weather disturbance is seen to develop inside and outside PAR in the next three days, said Bulquerin.
