Bureau of Immigration (BI) agents arrested a German national wanted in his country for 713 cases of fraud.
BI Commissioner Jaime Morente said 47-year-old Alexander Herr, who also uses the alias Kai Michael Konig, was apprehended at the immigration office in Makati while attempting to extend his visa.
BI Makati extension office chief Maria Rhodora Abrazaldo said they discovered that Herr is subject in a deportation case upon checking his travel status.
Records showed the German has a standing arrest warrant issued by the German Public Prosecutor’s Office in Darmstadt in 2015 for a string of fraud cases and is likewise the subject of an Interpol alert notice.
He is facing three years jail if found guilty of the crime.
Herr is temporarily detained at the BI’s detention facility in Bicutan, Taguig City pending his deportation.
