2,560 gun ban violators arrested so far-PNP


Police have arrested more than 2,500 people and confiscated almost 2,000 firearms in the continuing implementation of gun ban across the country.

Based on its data, the Philippine National Police (PNP) stated that of the 2,560 violators arrested, a total of 15 of them were policemen, 12 are soldiers, 42 were security guards while the rest were civilians.

The data covers January 9 when the gun ban started until April 13.

Of the 1,953 firearms confiscated, a total of 1,649 of them are handguns, 62 are light weapons, 112 are replicas and 80 are firearms parts.

Police said they also confiscated 935 deadly weapons that include knives and explosive materials.

Based on the PNP data, most of the violators were arrested in Metro Manila.

The PNP leadership then reminded the public about the gun ban implementation until June 8.
