Buy-bust operation nets 3 suspects, P521,000 shabu in Taguig


Operatives from the Southern Police District (SPD) seized more than P500,000 worth of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) and arrested three suspects, including an alleged high value target (HVI), in Taguig on Monday, April 11.

Elements from SPD’s Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU), District Intelligence Division, and District Mobile Force Battalion conducted the buy-bust operation on Roldan Street, Barangay New Lower Bicutan, Taguig.

Arrested during the operation were Irene Igban, 40, classified by the SPD as an HVI; a certain Joenorie, 30, a vendor; and Paul Edel Reyes, 18.

The police seized 13 plastic sachets containing suspected shabu weighing 76.7 grams with a value of P521,560 and P500 buy-bust money.

Cases for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) will be filed against the suspects, who were brought to the SPD DEU office for documentation. The drugs were turned over to the SPD Forensic Unit for chemical analysis.

SPD director Brig. Gen. Jimili Macaraeg lauded the operating unit for the arrest of the suspects and confiscation of the suspected illegal drugs.
