5 UCC College of Law graduates pass 2020-21 Bar exams

The Caloocan City government announced on Tuesday, April 12, that five out of the six graduates of the University of Caloocan City (UCC) College of Law passed the 2020-2021 Bar Examinations held in February 2022.

The new lawyers - Attorney Sheena Reyes-Belen, Attorney Roberto Damian, Attorney Krizia Pia, Attorney Amiel Secretario, and Attorney Micheal Villalon – are all part of the UCC College of Law’s first batch of graduates. Their graduation was held in July 2021.

The results of the bar exams were released on Tuesday, April 12. The UCC got an 83.33 percent passing rate.

“Simula nang manungkulan ako bilang Ama ng Caloocan, ang larangan ng edukasyon ang isa sa aking pinaka-pinagtuunan ng pansin. Gusto ko na sa Caloocan manggagaling ang mga susunod na magagaling na guro, pulis, accountant, at ngayon abogado naman (Since I took office as the Father of Caloocan, one of my main focus is the field of education. I want the next great teachers, policemen, accountants, and now lawyers would come from Caloocan),” Malapitan said as he congratulated the bar exam passers.

“Isa lamang ito sa mga patunay na dito sa Caloocan, prayoridad at ipagpapatuloy ng Malapitan administration ang pagbibigay ng kalidad na edukasyon para sa magandang kinabukasan ng mga Batang Caloocan (This is one of the proofs that here in Caloocan, the Malapitan administration prioritizes and will continue providing quality education for Caloocan children's good future),” Mayor Oca added.

The UCC College of Law, the first law school in CAMANAVA area (Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, and Valenzuela Cities), was opened in 2017 through an ordinance authored by District 1 Representative Dale “Along” Malapitan.

According to the local government, the new College of Engineering is expected to open once the construction of the UCC in Bagong Silang is finished.

It added that Rep. Along Malapitan, who also is running for city mayor, also vowed to pursue the establishment of the College of Nursing in the UCC if he wins in the May 2022 elections.
