36 BJMP personnel pass bar exams

Thirty-six personnel of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) passed the 2020-2021 bae examinations, a new record on the number of passers in the bureau.

Out of the 67 BJMP personnel who took the bar exam last February, 36 made the cut that trabslates to a passing rate of 53.73 percent.

“This is so far, the highest number of bar takers and bar passers in the history of the BJMP,’’ the BJMP statement read.

In 2016, 16 BJMP personnel passed the bar out of the 64 examinees for a passing rate of 25 percent.

BJMP chief Jail Director Allan Iral expressed his warmest congratulations to the new BJMP lawyers and commend them for their perseverance to pass the exam.

“We are proud of you for being part of this historic number of bar passers”, Iral said.

“Sana mas maging pursigudo kayo na mapabilis hindi lamang ang pagpoproseso ng kaso ng ating mga PDL (persons deprived of liberty) kundi ang pagtulong sa mahihirap nating mga kababayan na walang pambayad ng abugado (I hope that you would work harder to expedite not only in the processing of the cases of the PDLs but also in helping our impoverished countrymen who do not have money to pay for the services of a lawyer),’’ he added.

The 36 new lawyers will take their oath on May 2, 2022 and will be added to the 58 lawyers of the BJMP. (Chito A. Chavez)
