Plant boxes placed as barriers along Commonwealth Avenue’s bike lanes

The Quezon City (QC) government announced on Monday, April 11, that it placed 10 concrete plant boxes along the bike lane on the eastbound lane of Commonwealth Avenue to act as barriers for the safety of cyclists that are passing through.

The placement of the plant boxes, which started on Wednesday, April 6, is a dry-run to study the design and the usage of the said barriers as replacement to the plastic barriers that are currently placed on the city’s bike lanes.

It was led by the QC Task Force - Bicycle and Active Transport and Green Transport Office -Department of Public Safety (DPOS). The dry-run will last for one month.

Residents, especially those who use the bike lanes, were encouraged to give their comments on the concrete plant box barriers.

The local government said that if the dry-run turns out to be successful, they might continue to add more concrete plant box barriers for the safety of the cyclists passing through the different bike lanes in Quezon City.
