The health department said that 66 million individuals are 74.05 percent of the government’s target population.

The data of DOH showed that around 6.6 million senior citizens or at least 76.12 percent of the said target population have been inoculated against the dreaded disease.

Recently, the agency urged individuals to get a booster shot as the efficacy of the Covid-19 vaccine wanes over time.

DOH said 46.8 million citizens are eligible to get inoculated with booster shots.

Few days ago, DOH – Technical Advisory Group (DOH-TAG) member Dr. Edsel Salvaña, an infectious disease expert, warned the public of the possible rise in Covid-19 cases due to the low booster vaccination rate.

He noted that Covid-19 booster shots are important amid the presence of the new Covid-19 variants.
