QCJMD celebrates Palm Sunday

Around 2,754 persons deprived of liberty (PDL) in the Quezon City Jail Male Dormitory (QCJMD) celebrated Palm Sunday through an online Holy Mass held at the jail facility in Kamuning on Sunday morning, April 10.

The online Palm Sunday Mass, which serves as a commencement of the Lenten season, started at around 7 a.m. and was officiated by Reverend Father Tony Moreno S.J. of the Sacred Heart Shrine, Diocese of Cubao. The PDLs waved 120 "palaspas" or palm leaves during the celebration.

Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) lockdown personnel also attended the celebration.

The QCJMD said that they ensure the safekeeping and development of the PDLs through rehabilitation programs that show compassion to them by enforcing positive messaging of faith, hope, and a positive vision of the future beyond the jail facilities walls.

Aside from the Holy Mass, the QCJMD will also conduct different activities during the Holy Week (April 10 to 17) such as “Pabasa”, a religious activity where groups read though chanting a book that contains the life of Jesus Christ, scheduled on April 13 and 14.
