Three local tourists drown in Pangasinan beaches


PANGASINAN -- Police authorities here on Saturday reported three deaths after drowning in separate beaches in San Fabian and in Dasol, this province.

Pangasinan Police identified them as Raymando Estino, 60 and Wilfredo Estino JR, 34 , both residents of Tuding, Itogon, Benguet who were found floating near the shoreline of Brgy Nibaliw Narvarte, San Fabian.

Another fatality, a certain Nelson Que, 55, a resident of Brgy. 171 Bagumbong, Caloocan City, who also drowned at Nava Villa Beach Resort in Brgy. Osmena, Dasol, Pangasinan.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) personnel, who immediately proceeded to the area after receiving a report, tried to revive the Raymando and Wilfredo by conducting Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CCPR) before rushing them to Region 1 Medical Center, Dagupan City. Both were declared dead on arrival.

The victims together with their relatives were swimming at the area but were allegedly dragged and carried away by strong currents.

It was also gathered that the third fatality, Nelson Que, was allegedly under the influence of liquor when he joined his cousins in swimming at Nava Villa Beach Resort around 5 p.m. on Friday. Based on a sketchy report, Nelso Que’s relatives noticed him being carried by strong currents.

They immediately rescued the victim and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation but failed to revive.

Authorities continue to warn beachgoers to refrain from drinking liquor if they intend to swim to avoid drowning.
