CEBU CITY -- Several sectoral groups threw their support to Manila Mayor Francisco ‘Isko Moreno’ Domagoso, one of the presidential candidates in the May elections.

Leaders of the sectoral groups expressed their support by signing a manifesto before Domagoso, who kicked off his two-day Cebu campaign sortie here on Friday, April 8.

Supporters of Domagoso gathered at the Guadalupe Gym in Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City but the mayor failed to attend the event after his flight was delayed, leaving his wife Dianne Lynn and son Joaquin to face the supporters.

The mother and daughter sent the crowd to its feet when they danced “Dying Inside to Hold You.”

Domagoso finally made it to another event in Barangay Tinago where hundreds of cheering supporters waited for him.

Domagoso capped his first day of visit in Cebu by attending another event in Hoops Dome in Lapu-Lapu City.

It was in Lapu-Lapu where the manifesto was presented to Domagoso.

Among the sectoral groups that expressed support for Domagoso were the Pro ISKO, Senior Citizens Association of Cebu City, LGBTQ+ for Isko Cebu, Cebu Workers for Isko, Tindog Medellin Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries, Carreta Homeowners Association, Tayud Fisherfolks Association, Youth for Isko and Mandaue Islam Association, among others.

On Saturday, Domagoso held another meeting with barangay officials of Cebu City. He was also scheduled to meet with local officials of Cebu’s Third District late in the day.

“We will reach out to as many people as we can,” said Domagoso.

Moreno was also scheduled to attend a concert in Toledo City on Saturday night where he will be joined by Cebu 3rd District Rep. Pablo John Garcia.

Garcia is the secretary general of the influential One Cebu Party, which has yet to endorse a presidential candidate.

Garcia is backing the candidacy of Domagoso but his niece, Liloan Mayor Christina Garcia-Frasco, is supporting the tandem of Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.

Christina is daughter of Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, who is the president of One Cebu.

Domagoso admitted that an endorsement from One Cebu will boost his presidential bid.

“It will help, in all honesty,” said Domagoso.
