The camp of presidential candidate and Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso slammed those who were spreading false information that downplayed the issues on the P203-billion estate tax liability of the Marcoses.
This, after the camp of former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. continued to insist that the case related to his family’s unpaid P203-billion estate tax was still pending in court.
Aksyon Demokratiko Chairman Ernest Ramel pointed out that the law clearly states that the executor or the administrator shall pay the estate tax, noting that Marcos Jr. and his mother Imelda Marcos were the court-approved executors in the case of the P203-billion estate tax.
“The Tax Code provides that the executor/administrator, who, in this case, are Marcos Jr. and Imelda, is liable for the payment of estate tax. Government may also proceed against Marcos heirs in proportion to their shares in the inheritance,” Ramel said in a statement.
Vic Rodriguez, spokesman of Marcos Jr., had also earlier claimed that the issue on Marcos family’s estate taxes liability was just being used for “political purposes only”.
Aksyon Demokratiko standard bearer Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso has been repeatedly appealing to the Marcoses to pay the P203 billion estate tax debts, saying these could be used as “ayuda” for Filipinos affected by the pandemic.
