Police hunting down bodyguard of candidate in Cagayan for threatening and pointing gun during campaign rally


CAGAYAN -- Police authorities here have been conducting a hot pursuit operation for the arrest of a gun-toting man who allegedly threatened and pointed his gun at a barangay secretary during a campaign rally in Brgy Roma Sur, Enrile town in this province.

The police identified the suspect as Jack Decquico, a bodyguard of Enrile town vice mayor Expedito Taguibao who was there for a campaign rally last Sunday, April 3.

The Cagayan Provincial Police reported that the victims Rowena Lamban , 40, Barangay Secretary of Roma Sur, and Ramon Bong Casupanan, 35, both residents of the said barangay, happened to see the suspect in a vacant lot intended for gardening.

Lamban, according to the police, told the suspect not to urinate in the vacant lot beside the barangay hall but the suspect insisted.

At this juncture, Ramon Bong went to the suspect and told him in Filipino ‘sir bakit ka umihi dyan, andyan ang ate ko sa harap mo.’ The suspect drew his gun from his sling bag, loaded it and pointed it to the victims, and said ‘ito ba ang gusto nyo?’.

The suspect, said to be a resident of San Roque, Enrile, Cagayan, immediately fled to an unknown direction.

Personnel of Enrile Police Station led by Senior Master Sergeant Jaime Lallaban who acted as security at a campaign rally in the said place, conducted hot pursuit operation for the possible arrest of the suspect.

Attempted Homicide in Relation to Omnibus Election Code will be charged against the suspect according to Corporal Elizalde Tagal Jr, Investigator-On-Case.
