MMDA clears Baclaran roads of obstruction


Vehicles were either towed or have been issued with traffic violations tickets while sidewalk vendors were asked to clear the roads as the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority) started the crackdown on road obstructions in Baclaran, Parañaque City on Tuesday, April 5.

MMDA General Manager Frisco San Juan, Jr. led the operation that started at around 6 a.m. amid the heavy downpour.

"We will be conducting regular clearing operations especially on all Mabuhay Lanes to ensure that they are all passable and obstruction-free," said San Juan.

Mabuhay Lanes are alternative routes to decongest EDSA of huge volume vehicles especially that the pre-pandemic traffic situation has started to come back.

During the operation, five vehicles were towed while 16 were issued with tickets for violations.

Of the violation, six go them were for illegal parking, three for disregarding traffic signs, three for motorcycle riders with no helmets, two for riding motorcycles using slippers, one for obstruction and one for driving without license.
