MEXICO, Pampanga--Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio gave a thoughtful and warm birthday greeting for former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on the occasion of her 75th birthday.
"Happy birthday to our former president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, I wish you good health and happiness," Mayor Duterte said in her birthday message to the Lubao native during a chance interview with reporters on Monday night, April 4.
Arroyo is celebrating her 75th birthday today, Tuesday.
The UniTeam rally here carried out Monday night, as well as a similar one in Lubao that same morning, doubled as an advance birthday celebration for Arroyo.
"Nagpapasalamat po kami sa kanyang imbitasyon sa amin dito sa probinsiya ng Pampanga to celebrate her birthday and para po makapangampanya dito sa probinsiya ng Pampanga (We thank her for inviting us here in the province of Pampanga to celebrate her birthday and to be able to campaign here in the province of Pampanga)," the Davao official said.
The UniTeam tandem is composed of presidential candidate Bongbong Marcos and his running mate, Mayor Duterte.
During the event at Lubao, Arroyo introduced Mayor Duterte to the crowd as "the next vice president of the Republic of the Philippines".
In her birthday message to Arroyo before the Lubao crowd, Mayor Duterte said: "We wish her good health, of course lagi iyan (that is constant), and we wish her happiness and we wish her heart's desire for the next two, three, four, 50 years more."
The vice presidential aspirant chairs the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (CMD), of which Arroyo is a known figurehead.
Also celebrating his birthday recently was Mayor Duterte's father, President Duterte. He turned 77 last March 28.
The lady mayor told reporters last week that she didn't celebrate her father's birthday with him. However, she did give him this message beforehand.
Mayor Duterte also reiterated Monday that she hasn't discussed politics with her dad since August 2021, or two months before the filing of certificates of candidacy (COCs).
