The 20-year-old Fil-Japanese posted three birdies against the same number of bogeys to finish with a four-round total of 283 following rounds of 75, 70 and 66.

She finished nine strokes behind eventual champion Jennifer Kupcho, who limped home with a two-over-par 74 but still managed to prevail with a four-round total of 274.

Kupcho actually banked on an explosive third-round 64 to gain enough cushion going to the final round. She had earlier rounds of 66 and 70.

Jessica Korda attempted to catch up with Kupcho with an eagle-aided 69, but still fell behind by two strokes for 276 following earlier rounds of 71, 69 and 67.

Pia Babnik zoomed from outside the Top 10 to finish at solo third after a 66 for 277, while last year’s champion Patty Tavatanakit scored a 72 to settle for a share of fourth place along with Hinako Shibuno (66), Celine Boutier (67) and Lexi Thompson (68).

It was a bittersweet moment for the participants as this served as the last tournament in Mission Hills as it moves to a new venue in Texas next year.
