Creamline turns back Choco Mucho, makes return trip to finals

Creamline overcame Choco Mucho’s hot start to post a 23-25, 25-19, 25-18, 25-15 victory Sunday and book a championship berth in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Tots Carlos spearheaded the Cool Smashers’ blistering attacks to shatter the Flying Titans’ sturdy net defense for a return trip to the finals before a crowd of 16,687 fans.

They won Game 1 of their best-of-three series last Friday, 25-18, 17-25, 25-19, 25-11.

Carlos was unstoppable at the attack line by unloading 19 of her 23 points on kills as Creamline bounced back from an opening-set hiccup with attacks on all angles.

Choco Mucho slowed down Creamline’s offense in the opening set by posting seven blocks, but the Cool Smashers were able to adjust in the next three frames with their formidable offense.

It was not after the Flying Titans threatened midway the fourth set where they trimmed their 14-7 deficit to 14-12, but the Cool Smashers were able to recover with Alyssa Valdez, Carlos and Jema Galanza at the forefront of their assault.

The Cool Smashers also banked on their service aces to weaken the Flying Titans’ floor defense.

With the victory, Creamline awaits the winner between Petro Gazz and Cignal, who are playing at press time.

Galanza finished with 18 points including 16 attacks, while Valdez chipped in 17 points including the match-winning kill.
