K-drama fan Robredo greets Hyun Bin, Son Ye-jin on marriage

A week of being away from Manila and campaigning in the southern Philippines made Vice President Leni Robredo miss catching up on the wedding of one of her favorite Korean drama couples.

Yes, it’s the wedding of Korean stars Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin, who tied the knot in a private wedding ceremony at the Aston House of the Grand Walkerhill Seoul Hotel last March 31.

Robredo shared in the past about her fondness for “Crash Landing On You,” Hyun’s and Son’s reunion project that eventually led to them getting together.

“Was away the entire week, and it is only now that I’m backreading many things. Among the things I missed: 1. The wedding of Yun Bin and Son Ye-jin (pink heart emojis) Sobrang (Too) good vibes (thank you emojis) Congratulations (party emojis),” she wrote on Facebook.

The Vice President once shared that she prefers Hyun’s looks because he’s not what many would say traditionally handsome.

“Crash Landing On You” was a popular Korean drama that was the top one on Netflix for weeks at the height of the pandemic.

The reel-to-real life couple first confirmed their relationship on January 1, 2021, and announced their engagement on February 10 this year.

Favorite book

Meanwhile, Robredo also said she missed out on “all the fuss” about her favorite book, “To Kill a Mockingbird.”

Critics and bashers made a big issue of the Vice President explaining why the book became her favorite during a quick interview with an online media site.

“Resibo talaga ng katotohanan ang (Receipt of the truth is really the) best antidote for fake news,” she said.

“To Kill a Mockingbird” is a Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by American author Harper Lee.

The book discussed issues such as race, discrimination, inequality, and moral integrity in the main character, Atticus Finch, a lawyer who was assigned to defend a young black man accused of raping a white woman.

Often, the main character is regarded as someone who lawyers should emulate.

Robredo’s bashers, however, criticized her choice of book, with some saying that she should be condemned for supporting animal cruelty.
