Herbert's message to 'Kris': 'My love for you as a friend will never fade'

TARLAC CITY, Tarlac--UniTeam Senate slate member Herbert Bautista tackled a matter close to his heart during a camapign rally here Saturday, April 2 thanks to the prodding of the crowd.

Bautista was making his usual spiels on stage when the audience began chanting the name "Kris". This is a possible reference to Kris Aquino, his old flame. The two are popular showbiz personalities.

"Actually natagpuan ko na ‘yung babaeng pakakasalan ko sa Tarlac, kaya lang tinatakan niya ako ng ‘ex'. Pero di ko alam kung ako ‘yun, baka ibang tao naman po ‘yun di ba? (Actually I found the woman who I was going to marry in Tarlac, but she has branded me her 'ex'. But I don't know if she's referring to me, maybe it's someone else right?)," he said.

Aquino's family hails from Tarlac. She is the daughter of former Senator Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr., who was born in Concepion.

"Pero seriously, ito na lang ang aking message sa kanya: Malaki ang respeto ko sa pamilya mo at saka sayo. At ang aking pagmamahal sayo bilang kaibigan ay hindi na mawawala (But seriously, this is my only message to her: I have high respect for your family and you. And my love for you as a friend will never fade)," he said.

"So pagaling ka, kain ka marami (So get well soon, and eat a lot)," the 53-year-old Bautista added in true couple lingo fashion.

Aquino, 51, revealed in 2018 that she was diagnosed with chronic spontaneous urticaria, an autoimmune disease. Her weight is reportedly less than 40 kilos.

Aquino, who is supporting the opposition slate led by Vice President Leni Robredo, once told a campaign rally crowd "not to vote for her 'ex'".
