Barangay fiestas, sports gatherings now allowed in Lingayen


LINGAYEN – People in this capital town of Pangasinan have not been allowed to hold barangay fiesta celebrations and sports tournaments for quite some time now because of the pandemic.

Now, they are free.

“Every local government unit shall exercise the powers expressly granted, those necessarily implied therefrom, as well as powers necessary, appropriate, or incidental for its efficient and effective governance, and those which are essential to the promotion of the general welfare,” said Mayor Leopoldo N. Bataoil.

The municipal mayor made the statement after issuing Executive Order 18 on Friday, April 1, allowing the holding of the traditional celebration of barangay fiestas and sports tournaments and other gatherings in Lingayen.

In issuing the executive order, Bataoil cited the low risk classification of the Municipality of Lingayen and the minimal number of persons with COVID-19 in the municipality.

But those joining the above activities who are (18) years old and above will be required to present proof of full vaccination before participating in the above-mentioned activities.

Children ages seventeen (17) and below shall not be required to present proof of full vaccination status.
