NYC opens application for 9th ASEAN-Korea Economic Forum


The National Youth Commission (NYC), together with the Asia Exchange Association, has opened the applications for the ASEAN-Korea Economic Forum (AKEF): Sectoral Forum for the 9th ASEAN-Korea Economic Forum which will be held in July 2022.

“The forum aims for the youth to address global agenda regarding economic issues, particularly to pursue project continuity, build networking between participants, and promote in-depth discussion on the agenda in the socio-culture, political security, and the economic sector,” it said.

NYC likewise disclosed that the forum will be held in both physical and virtual formats on July 22 until July 29, 2022.

The Commission, however, stated that interested youth delegates must be a Filipino citizen who is currently residing in the Philippines within the age range of 19 to 29 years old. Participants must also have a “good command” for written and spoken English.

Possession of Philippine passport or Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-issued birth certificate is also required in order for the Commission to verify the applicant’s citizenship.

Interested applicants must also be willing to be an NYC volunteer or to comply with post-program activities. All delegates must also be able to attend and participate in the “whole duration” of the program virtually, including the online orientation which according to NYC, will be held on June 4, 2022.

The Commission added that it will be nominating two Filipino youth delegates for the said forum. The deadline of applications is on April 15, 2022, it added.
