"Ginagawa na yun (It’s already being done), there's no...tinatapos na ni Pangulong Duterte (President Duterte is finishing it)," the UniTeam figurehead said in a chance interview here Thursday, March 31 during the inauguration of the UniTeam-Tingog Party-list headquarters.

Marcos gave this answer when he was asked if he would prioritize the reconstruction and rehabilitation of Marawi should he be victorious in the May 9, 2022 elections.

Just hours earlier, Marcos was in Marawi itself, which is 109.6 kilometers away from this province.

Asked about the rehab of the Lanao del Sur capital city, he said: Actually may nakapag-report sa akin. Ang pagpapaayos naman kasi, inaayos muna yung basic infrastructure ng nasira. Mahirap yun kaya natatagalan (Actually someone has reported to me, Reconstruction isn't easy, they're reparing the basic infrastructure of what was damaged. That takes time because it's difficult)."

"Pero I'm sure kapag natapos na iyon (But I'm sure after that is finished) we can rebuild structures at magiging mas maganda (and it will be better)," added the Ilocano Palace aspirant.

An estimated 1,000 ISIS-inspired Maute Group terrorists occupied Marawi City in Lanao del Sur on May 23, 2017. The Philippine military drove the terrorists out after a grueling five-month battle that left the Islamic city in shambles.

The Duterte administration has been trying to fix Marawi eversince.

President Duterte will step down from Malacañang on June 30, 2022.
