Chinese arrested for evading Comelec checkpoint


IMUS CITY, Cavite – A Chinese national was accosted after disregarding a Comelec checkpoint in Barangay Palico II on March 27.

According to Imus City Police Station (CPS), Yuanyi Zhang ignored the checkpoint and fled, prompting the authorities to chase after him.

Zhang's vehicle rammed the police mobile twice during the car chase, resulting in damage.

After a 15-minute hot pursuit, authorities cornered Zhang, who tried to seek refuge inside a private compound.

With Zhang inside the vehicle were another male Chinese national and his pregnant Filipina partner, Imus CPS told the Manila Bulletin.

A breath analyzer test showed that the suspect was under the influence of alcohol.

Zhang is facing charges for disregarding a Comelec checkpoint resulting in damage to property and driving under the influence of alcohol.
