WesMinCom officials meet with MNLF chair Misuari


ZAMBOANGA CITY - Western Mindanao Command (WesMinCom) officials, led by Lt. Gen. Alfredo V. Rosario, met with Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) Chairman Nur MIsuari at the latter’s residence in Davao City on Friday, March 25,  to reiterate their commitment to the government-led peace initiatives with the MNLF.

“We are here to solidify our partnership with MNLF Chairman Misuari to help us implement the MNLF Transformation Program intended for the remaining MNLF combatants in Sulu,” said Joint Task Force Sulu Chief,  Maj. Gen. Ignatius Patrimonio.

The MNLF Transformation Roadmap is a program spearheaded by the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU), which includes all governmental programs  on security and confidence building in MNLF communities.

Chairman Misuari expressed his gratitude to the military officials for the visit and assured them of his cooperation and support in government-led peace initiatives.

“As head of the MNLF, you can be rest assured of our continuing support to all future undertakings of mutual interest for lasting peace and sustainable development in Mindanao, “ said Misuari.

The OPAPRU, together with Joint Task Force Sulu and other partner agencies, is finalizing the implementing rules and regulations for the MNLF roadmap.

“Through the support of Chairman Misuari coupled with the successful implementation of the MNLF Transformation Roadmap, your security forces are optimistic that the province of Sulu will experience a lasting peace that is conducive for sustainable development,“ said Patrimonio.

Rosario was accompanied by Patrimonio, former WesMinCom commander retired Lt. Gen. Corleto Vinluan, Col. Jose Mariano, Col. Montano Almodovar, Col. Yasser Bara, Col, Wendel Basat, Col. Alaric Delos Santos, and Lt. Col. Saupi Jalkanain.
