RSG Philippines secured a ticket to the playoffs following its 2-1 victory over Omega Esports in the MPL Philippines Season 9 on Saturday, March 26.
With the win, RSG upped its point total to 21 points – the same maximum Omega, the No. 7 team in the standings, could get. And since RSG also swept its regular season series over Omega, the latter has no way of catching up the former in terms of the standings even if Omega wins all of its remaining games.
Also benefitting from the win was TNC Pro Team ML which earlier defeated the already playoff-bound ECHO team.
RSG drew the series first blood behind the returning Eman “Emann” Sangco who missed the team’s last game against Bren due to a wrist injury. He picked up where he left off as he spearheaded RSG’ 15-9 Game 1 onslaught with a 6-1-3 KDa on his signature Beatrix pick.
Bleeding for points, Omega made sure to salvage one and avoid a sweep in Game 2.
Patrick “E2max” Caidic set the tone for Omega with his accurate arrows on the Selena to finish with a 4-1-3 line. Duane “Kelra” Pillas also had a deathless show of 3-0-1 KDA as his Clint quickly reached its power spike in Omega’s dominant 10-1 win.
Emann then took over for the squad once more in the deciding Game 3 as he displayed a 4-1-6 KDA on the new marksman hero Melissa. Demonkite unleashed a perfect 4-0-7 KDa on the jungle Karina, easily converting Light’s catches on his Franco’s Iron Hooks into easy kills.
