Rep. Along vows to continue and improve dad’s programs

Caloocan City mayoral candidate District 1 Rep. Dale “Along” Malapitan on Friday, March 25, vowed to continue and improve his projects and the programs of his father, incumbent Mayor Oscar “Oca” Malapitan, if he wins in the upcoming elections.

Rep. Malapitan made his commitment during the Team Aksyon at Malasakit meeting de avance held at Barangay 18 covered court on Friday evening.

“Ako po hindi na ho ako mangangako. Ang gagawin ko nalang itutuloy ko ang lahat ng aking ginawa, at lahat ng mga proyekto’t programa ng aking ama na nagustuhan ng mga taga-Caloocan (I am not going to promise anything. I will just continue my and my father’s projects and programs that people of Caloocan liked),” he said.

Malapitan said some of the programs he had authored as congressman include the provision of free tuition in the University of Caloocan City (UCC), allowance of students in Caloocan Science High School, the establishment of the PUP-Caloocan, health facilities, increase in hospital bed capacity, and lighting of streets which attracted businesses.

The solon also authored the law that established the city's District 3.

He said he will push for the establishment of a College of Nursing in the UCC if he becomes mayor of the city.

In terms of pandemic response, he said the leaders and citizens should unite and cooperate in the fight against the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

“Kaya natin lumaban sa Covid, oo, pero ang mahalaga para makalaban tayo sa Covid, kailangan ang ating mamamayan at ang ating pamahalaan, nagkakaisa, nagtutulungan (Yes, we can fight Covid, but it is important that the people and the government are united and helping each other in order to fight Covid),” Along said

“Sabay sabay tayong pinabagsak , kailangan sama-sama tayong babangon (We were brought down , we should rise together),” the congressman added.

The solon's running mate is Councilor Karina Teh.

Mayor Oscar Malapitan is now the Team Aksyon at Malasakit candidate for District 1 congressman, while Rep. Obet Samson for District 2 and Councilor Dean Asistio for District 3.

The team kicked off the local campaign elections with a Holy Mass at the Sacred Heart Parish in the city on Friday morning.

"Napakalaki ng Caloocan at nasa 1.7 milyon mamamayan ang ating kailangang abutin. Pero sa loob ng 45 araw, sisikapin ko na iulat sa mga residente ng Caloocan ang ating nagawa sa nakalipas na 15 taon kong pagiging lingkod bayan at maging ang ating plano at direksyon na nais tahakin sakaling pagkatiwalaan nila tayo bilang ama ng Caloocan (Caloocan is huge and we need to reach around 1.7 million people. But in the span of 45 days, I will try to tell to the residents of Caloocan what we have accomplished in my past 15 years as a public servant as well as our plan and direction that we want to take in case they put their trust on us as the father of Caloocan.),” the mayoral candidate said.
