PNP tags seven towns in Cagayan as hotspots


CAGAYAN – At least seven towns in this province have been tagged as hotspots, and that authorities are putting more focus on them as the election campaign period for the local executives went full throttle on Friday.

Tagged as hotspots or red areas were the towns of Baggao, Amulung, Enrile, Buguey, Rizal, Penablanca, and Tuao, and Captain Isabela Gano, Chief PIO, Cagayan Provincial Police Office (PPO), said these towns would be of immediate concern and subject for monitoring.

“Red areas, immediate concern at under COMELEC control, dahil sa presence or history noon ng election, may namatay, may insidente ng hindi kanais nais,“ said Gano in a radio interview.

Gano noted the assessment was made by the Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management DIDM, and the Regional Intelligence Division where categories were also determined.

Meanwhile, Cagayan Provincial Director Colonel Renell R Sabaldica is aiming for a zero casualty in the campaign period until the election on May 9.

Earlier, the Police Regional Office 2 (PRO-2) said it will remain neutral and that it will respond to requests from any political aspirant for security purposes during their campaign rallies.
