Xian Lim excited with first int'l gig as Kapuso

Actor-singer Xian Lim is grateful to be among performers at a concert organized by GMA Network’s flagship international channel, GMA Pinoy TV, at the Dubai Millennium Amphitheatre, Dubai Expo Grounds, on March 30.

He is eager to meet kababayans there, hoping to make them happy.

"I mean, seeing your fellow kababayan abroad is such a wonderful feeling. Kasi nga tayong mga Filipino natutuwa pag nakakakita tayo ng kababayan. Parang matagal ng magkakilala. Because Filipinos have that 'instant connection.'"

Xian also wants to showcase the well-loved qualities inherent to Pinoys to foreigners there.

"For the non-Pinoys, gusto kong ipagyabang kung anong meron tayong Filipino," he said, citing for one how we love to uplift each other particularly during trying times.

"Ang sarap lang iyabang. Sarap i-showcase."

Note, the concert, which banners the theme #StrongerTogether, aims to share the message that Filipinos abroad, though separated by distance, can draw strength from each other and still unite in facing the adversities in life.

The event is a highlight of GMA Pinoy TV’s “Stronger Together” campaign in the Middle East in support of Expo 2020 Dubai.

The concert was made possible through a partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry, among others.

The artists’ costumes will be sponsored by Filipino fashion designer Ryan Pacioles of Atelier Zuhra.

As for his repertoire, Xian shared he is to perform a couple of songs as well as medleys.

He will also be playing the piano.

Excited as he is, Xian also feels "nervous."

"Ang tagal na rin kasi nung huling nag-perform ako in front of a live audience."

The Viva star revealed he can see himself being emotional at the gig, which also features Asia’s Limitless Star Julie Anne San Jose, who sang GMA Pinoy TV’s latest station ID, “Stronger Together,” as well as “The Clash Season 3” Grand Champion Jessica Villarubin.

In terms of him being a newbie Kapuso, Xian reiterated how he received the "warmest" welcome from everyone in the network.

"Nakakatuwa lang, i-feel very welcomed and comfortable," he related, adding he's "honored" and "privileged" to be "trusted" by GMA.

Note that Xian is to star in GMA Pinoy TV’s upcoming series “False Positive,” along with Glaiza de Castro.
