Las Piñas celebrates 25th cityhood and 115th founding anniversary

Las Piñas City will celebrate its 25th year of cityhood on March 26 and its 115th founding anniversary on March 27.

In line with the celebration of the cityhood and founding anniversary, the city government opened on Friday, March 25, a painting exhibit at the City Hall lobby, showing how the city transformed from a small fishing port and major salt-making center during the Spanish time into an important residential, commercial and industrial suburb in Metro Manila.

Mayor Imelda Aguilar said the exhibit showcasing the development of the city will surely be appreciated by visiting residents and taxpayers.

Aguilar said several infrastructures have turned Las Pinas into one of the developed cities in the National Capital Region (NCR).

She said the city government, through the Public Employment Service Office (PESO), also conducted a job fair wherein more than 182 applicants were hired on the spot.

The mayor said the job fair offered help to city residents looking for work, especially those displaced workers mostly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

As part of the celebration, she said a mass wedding for 114 couples living together will be held on March 31.

At the same time, the mayor announced that the city's Covid-19 vaccination drive dubbed “Bayanihan Bakunahan” has reached 91 percent of the target population through the effort and continuing hard work of the City Health Office (CHO).

Aguilar said CHO teams were dispatched to conduct house-to-house administration of the first, second and booster shots of the vaccine to senior citizens and persons with disability (PWDs).

The mayor further said that the city government has likewise provided the residents hospitalization support amounting to P30,000 with the issuance of “green cards” under the city’s health program.

Aguilar added that the green cards can be used in five accredited hospitals -- Las Piñas Doctors Hospital, Las Piñas Medical Hospital, Perpetual Help Medical Center-Las Piñas, Philippine General Hospital, and San Juan de Dios Hospital.
