First modernized public utility vehicle launched in Cagayan


TUAO WEST, Cagayan -- Travelers may now experience the first modernized public utility vehicle in this province.

The five Modernized Public Utility Jeepneys (Class 3) units of Tuao United Builders Transport Cooperative which will ply the routes Tuguegarao City-Tuao, Cagayan via Piat were successfully launched Friday at Tuao West, Cagayan.

The said MPUJ units are equipped with Euro-4 engines and have seating capacity of 23 passengers.

Their distinguishing accessories include dashcams, CCTV, speed limiters, Automatic Fare Collection System (AFCS), and WiFi for students and workers to enjoy while riding.

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board Region 2, headed by Regional Director Edward L. Cabase, led the launching with the Public Utility Vehicle Program Modernization Team (PUVMP Team).

Cabase said the PUV Modernization Program is the flagship, non-infrastructure project of the administration of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

Its goal is to provide a comfortable life for all Filipinos through a safe, reliable, convenient, affordable and environmentally-sustainable public transportation system in the country.
