QCPD, BJMP seize drug paraphernalia, bladed weapons in QC Jail surprise inspection


The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) on Thursday, March 24, conducted a “greyhound operation” or surprise inspection at the Quezon City Jail Mail Dormitory in Kamuning which resulted in the confiscation of drug paraphernalia, bladed weapons other contraband.

Lt. Col. Alex DJ Alberto, QCPD Station Kamuning Station (PS 10) commander, said the search conducted in every cell started at around 4:30 a.m. to ensure that all illegal items were confiscated.

The police recovered several bladed weapons, drug paraphernalia, playing cards, improvised pointed objects and other contraband.

"Ang 'Oplan Greyhound' ay isinagawa upang masigurado na hindi tayo malulusutan ng anumang kontrabando sa loob ng piitan lalo-lalong na ang ipinagbabawal na droga," QCPD Director Brig. Gen. Remus Medina said. (Oplan Greyhound was launched to prevent the entry of contraband inside our jail, particularly illegal drugs.)

"Ang QCPD, katuwang ang ibang ahensya ng gobyerno, ay walang sawang magmamatyag upang maiwasan ang mga ganitong iligal na gawain upang masiguro ang kaayusan at katahimikan ng ating mga piitan dito sa Lungsod Quezon (The QCPD, along with other government agencies, will continue to monitor and prevent such illegal activities in prisons here in Quezon City),” he added.
