In a memorandum signed by Education Secretary Leonor Briones dated March 21, DepEd said that the early registration for the upcoming school year will be until April 30, 2022.

DepEd said the conduct of the early registration is conducted “in preparation for the incoming class opening.”

The early registration, DepEd said, covers all incoming Kindergarten, Grades 1, 7, and 11 learners in all public elementary and secondary schools.

DepEd said that these learners need to pre-register to allow the Department “to make necessary preparations and adjustment of plans for the incoming school year.”

Meanwhile, DepEd clarified that students in Grades 2 to 6, 8 to 10, and 12 need not participate in the early registration since they are already considered pre-registered.

In the context of the ongoing Covid-19 situation, DepEd said that the conduct of early registration shall be done remotely in areas under Alert Levels 3 to 5.

“In-person registration through parents and guardians may be allowed in areas under Alert Levels 1 - 2 provided physical distancing and health safety protocols are strictly observed.”

DepEd said that daily updating or encoding in the Early Registration facility in the Learner Information System (LIS) should be done by every school using the school head or the school administrator account.

Likewise, schools were also instructed to utilize the Modified Basic Education Enrollment Form (electronic or printed copies) to “ensure that the necessary information in registering incoming Kindergarten, Grades 1, 7, and 11 learners and other data such as preferred modality are obtained properly.”

DepEd added that schools may also encode in the Early Registration facility the prospective enrollees for other grade levels such as those belonging to Grades 2-6, 8-10, and 12 based on the previous enrollment to “get the overall picture of expected enrollees for the next enrollment.”

Meanwhile, DepEd reminded school authorities of public and private schools to ensure that the “kindergarten cut-off age” is strictly implemented.

Private schools, on the other hand, are also “encouraged to conduct their respective early registration activities on the same time frame.”

The SY 2021-2022 started on Sept. 13, 2021 under a distance learning setup. The current SY is scheduled to end on June 24, 2022.

DepEd has recorded over 27.2 million students enrolled in basic education for the current school year.

For the upcoming SY, DepEd has yet to announce the date for the start of the school opening.
