“CDA’s initiative to advocate financial literacy through the Global Money week is an important step to change the youth’s mindset about savings,” said CDA.

Among the speakers of the event were CDA Chairperson Joseph Encabo, National Youth Commission (NYC) Chairperson Ronald Cardema, and CDA Regional Director Marieta Hwang.

Encabo highlighted the importance of financial literacy among youth by reiterating that this not only “ensure their savings,” but also “promote the sustainability” of cooperatives as well as the Filipino people.

Cardema, on the other hand, pointed out that CDA’s initiative increases the youth’s mindset about financial literacy as banking and savings are “not common” among the Filipino youth.

“The Global Money Week is an international awareness-raising campaign spearheaded by the organization for economic cooperation and Development International Network on Financial Education,” said CDA.
