More than 108,000 PUV drivers, operators receive fuel subsidy so far- LTFRB


More than 108,000 operators and drivers of public utility vehicle (PUV) have already received the government's fuel subsidy, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) disclosed on Tuesday, March 22.

In a statement, the LTFRB said the P6,500 distributed to total of 108,164 PUV drivers and operators represent approximately P703 million of the fund allocated to public transport sector.

There are a total of 264,443 beneficiaries who are set to receive the fuel subsidy.

“Pinapa-alalahanan ang mga operators o drivers, na ang halaga na kanilang matatatanggap na fuel subsidy sa ilalim ng programang ito ay maaari lamang gamitin para sa pagbili ng kailangan nilang krudo (We remind operators and drivers that their subsidies under this program may only be used for purchasing fuel),” the agency said.

The LTFRB sad it has been continuously processing the fuel subsidy distribution with the help of the LandBank of the Philippines.

Aside from this, the agency is also set to offer a service contracting program for commuters and drivers. In this initiative, the government will pay for the weekly expenses of drivers and operators for the conduct of Libreng Sakay (free ride) programs.
