Dela Rosa to PNP: Don't use your uniforms, badges to commit illegal activities or ‘’bye bye’

Senator Ronald ‘’Bato’’ dela Rosa on Monday, March 21 warned policemen not to use their uniforms and badges to commit illegal activities ‘’or bye bye’’.

Dela Rosa, chairman of the Senate public order and dangerous drugs committee, issued the warning after Charlie ‘’Atong’’ Ang, a Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor) on-line ‘e-sabong’ licensee, testified that a ranking Philippine National Police (PNP) officer volunteered to abduct a person suspected of ‘’game fixing’ by disabling a fighting cock just before a cockfight begins.

The offer to abduct was made at Ang’s Mandaluyong office reportedly in the presence of a National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) agent.

The officer, PNP Colonel Rogart Campo, now detained at the Laguna police, told dela Rosa that he could not remember whether such an incident took place.

Dela Rosa, a former PNP chief, said said such an incident could have slipped Campo’s ‘’selective memory.’’

Ang also testified Campo had asked him to state to anyone that he (Ang) spent for the renovation of Campo’s office at the PNP Criminal investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) during a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Ang advised Campo not to ask him to lie.

He said that he, nevertheless, gave P1-million to Campo. He added that having a foundation, he makes donations for worthy causes.

How the P1-million was spent or was kept was not explained.

Asked by dela Rosa if he knows Campo, Ang said he has seen him twice.
