All pending cases carefully studied, says poll chief

Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman Saidamen Pangarungan on Monday, March 21, has assured the public that they are carefully studying all the petitions filed before them.

The poll chief issued the statement in reaction to the letter of Akbayan urging the Comelec en banc to already resolve their pending petition for disqualification against Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.

"This Wednesday, March 23, 2022, we will be having our En Banc session and the letter of Akbayan and all other letters/motions of the same nature can be included in the agenda," said Pangarungan.

"Last En Banc session, I already asked the speedy disposition of all cases pending before the Commission," he added.

In their letter, Akbayan said they see no reason for the Comelec to further delay the resolution of the case, especially that the membership of en banc is now complete.

"Any further delay is already a gross disservice to the voting public and our electoral system and favors Marcos Jr's grand fakery," the group said.

"If this is not resolved before the election, this could rob many Filipinos of the ability to choose from a genuinely qualified list of candidates, and completely contaminate and debase their votes," added Akbayan.
