Loss to Bren shows balance in MPL, says ECHO coach

ECHO’s shock loss to Bren Esports didn’t exactly surprised head coach Michael “Arcadia” Bocado as it actually validated his belief that MPL Philippines is more balanced this season and that all the teams are capable of beating anyone.

Arcadia even tipped his hat off to Bren after it shut down the streaking ECHO team with its first sweep loss – a dominant one at that, despite being at the bottom end of the standings.

“Give credit rin dun sa Bren kasi maganda rin naman talaga yung performance nila it’s just that kami yung nasa losing end pero gagamitin namin yun as mga learnings,” said Arcadia moments after the game.

Arcadia also shut down the notions that his team experimented and played complacent in the match, saying that every team in the MPL right now is capable of pulling off surprises, including beating ECHO’s powerhouse lineup.

“This season lahat ng teams malakas like ang hirap sabihin, kunwari si Bren going to this game yung sa team ni Flap wala silang win pero malakas pa rin talaga sila. Kumbaga lahat ng teams dito sa Season 9 kaya tumalo ng ng upper ranked team, like top 1 or top 2 team ganun kasi yung tingin ko,” the champion coach explained.

“Parang bilog ang mundo ng ML ngayong season,” he furthered.

The veteran tactician also shared that they’ve prepared well for the game and even had their pocket picks ready for the match. It’s just that Bren emerged as the better team and the whole squad is willing to take the lessons from the loss.

“Motto namin is we are confident but not complacent. Tingin ko hindi (playing complacent) kasi yung preparation naman namin talagang nagbigay kami ng effort kumabaga may mga pocket picks nga kami na ready,” he added.

“Talagang may mga nagawa lang na mistake which is understandable we are all humans. It’s okay, babawin kami from that.”
