Cignal continued its giant-slaying ways and stunned fancied F2 Logistics, 25-14, 25-21, 19-25, 25-18, Sunday to wrest the early solo lead in Pool A of the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference at the Paco Arena in Manila.

The HD Spikers controlled the first two sets before the Cargo Movers responded to the challenge to take the third. But Cignal quickly regained its composure to claim the fourth frame for their second straight win.

Rachel Daquis and Ces Molina powered Cignal with 13 points apiece including combined 24 attacks, while Ria Meneses added 12 points. Gel Cayuna also stepped up with 18 excellent sets on top of seven points highlighted by three aces.

“We really prepared hard for this. We executed well and I’m happy the other performed well,” said Cignal coach Shaq Delos Santos.

Roselyn Doria also made her presence felt for the HD Spikers by contributing nine points while Angeli Araneta and Jerrili Malabanan also teamed up for nine points.

Both team fell into a maze of errors, but Cignal was able to regroup by banking on its strong serves to weaken F2’s floor defense.

The Cargo Movers absorbed their first loss against two wins despite Tin Tiamzon and Kim Dy delivering 15 and 11 points.
