Bataan was "Marcos and Duterte country" back in May 2016; it will be the same case in May 2022.
Bataan 1st district Rep. Geraldine Roman practically gave this prediction on Thursday, March 17, during presidential candidate Bongbong Marcos's visit to the province.
“Bataan is both Marcos and Duterte country. Hindi po namin kailangang umasa sa haka-haka o survey. Ito po ay napatunayan na nung nakaraang halalan (We don't need to rely on rumors or surveys. This was proven during the previous elections),” Roman said.
“Hindi na ako nabubulag na minamahal kayo dito (I'm not blinded by my love for you). When I look at you and Inday, I vision a bright future for the country,” she added.
The congresswoman was referring to Marcos's running mate, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte. Duterte, who is also known as "Inday Sara", didn't join Marcos in his Bataan swing.
In the 2016 polls, Marcos won by a margin of over 100,000 votes in the province against his rival, then-Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo, during their face-off for the vice presidency.
Bataan also carried then-Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte to victory six years ago when he ran for the Palace seat. Inday Sara is his eldest daughter.
During his visit to the province, Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) standard-bearer Marcos led the inauguration of the PFP headquarters in Pilar.
The former senator also made a courtesy call at the Cathedral Shrine Parish of Saint Joseph to meet Bishop of Balanga Diocese Ruperto Cruz Santos.
He then capped his activities with a grand rally at the Bataan People’s Center, which was attended by Roman and other local officials.
