Ang Probinsyano Party-list Rep. Alfred Delos Santos said there is a need to assist transportation sectors as the series of fuel price hikes may also cause the prices of basic goods to increase.

“We are one with the government on its intensified steps to cushion the effects of the increase in oil prices which could potentially impact our transportation fare and the prices of basic goods,” said Delos Santos.

Delos Santos was referring to the Department of Budget and Management’s release of a total of P3 billion to public utility vehicles drivers, farmers and fisherfolks due to the increasing fuel prices.

Delos Santos issued the statement on Friday, March 18, after the Ang Probinsyano concluded a week-long assistance drive in the Visayas.

The party-list distributed relief aid to 529 indigent individuals in Compostela town, Cebu, Ginatilan, Cebu, City of Naga, Cebu and Siquijor.

Delos Santos said Ang Probinsyano launched the series of relief operations to help the beneficiaries cope with the effects of the continuing oil price hikes.

Beneficiaries included tricycle drivers, “habal-habal” drivers, PUV drivers, farmers, fishermen, displaced workers, youths and senior citizens.

The party-list also distributed educational assistance to 458 high school and college students in Sibonga, Cebu and Minglanilla, Cebu and in Loboc, Bohol.
