ABC prexy, cohort yield P680T worth of suspected shabu


TACLOBAN CITY - The president of the Association of Barangay Chair (ABC) of Matalom, Leyte, and his cohort yielded an estimated 100 grams of suspected shabu worth P680,000 during a buy-bust operation Tuesday at the Baywalk area, in Brgy. Kalanggaman, Bato, Leyte.

Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Regional Director Edgar Jubay identified the arrested suspects as Rogelio Daño, 57, ABC Pres. of Matalom, Leyte, and his nephew Cesario Lambujon, 35.

The Regional Special Enforcement Team (RSET8) and the Station Drug Enforcement Teams of Matalom and Bato police recovered from the suspects four sachets containing white crystalline substances with an estimated weight of 100 grams.

The team also seized a bundle of money with one genuine P1,000, including the marked money, conveyance, and other pieces of evidence.

Daño is tagged as a High Valued Individual, and is allegedly the biggest supplier of illegal drugs in the 5th District of Leyte up to the southern part of Southern Leyte.

Charges of violation of Sections 5 and 11 of Article II of the Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Law Against Illegal Drugs of 2002 are being readied against the suspects who are temporarily detained at the custodial facility of PDEA in Palo, Leyte.
