Kapuso actor Benjamin Alves admitted that he and his girlfriend Chelsea Robato have been discussing plans of settling down in the near future.
Alves made the revelation during a Zoom with the entertainment press for his latest TV series "Artikulo 247" last Sunday, March 13.
"There are plans, but we'll share them as it happens. Once it happens, you'll know the same day. So hang in there. We'll be generous naman in sharing this. Hopefully, we will have an interview na magkasama kami. That'll be nice," said Alves.
The actor added: "I'm in a great place - spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and physically. Parang you can feel naman the tide is bringing you that way."
Born and raised in Guam, Chelsea is a social media personality who is also a model and an entrepreneur. Chelsea and Benjamin celebrated their second anniversary in July 2021.
Fresh from the success of "Owe My Love," Alves is back on television with the riveting legal drama of the newest Afternoon Prime series ‘Artikulo 247.’
Alves said that the team has just wrapped up the second leg of the bubble taping for the series two weeks ago. "We were blessed with a beautiful location in Batangas: fresh air and great people."
Asked about the advantages and disadvantages of a lock-in taping, Alves said: "Economy-wise, mas makakaipon ka sa lock-in 'cus you're not going anywhere. It's easier that way that you are focused on your job for five to six weeks. And you can't have visitors as well. The investment of your time away from your loved ones is a lot. We don't know what's gonna happen in the second half of the year if they did say na babalik na tayo sa normal taping meaning we can shoot in Metro Manila, I am open to it. If I get to go home after a long day to Chelsea, to Nala (dog), parang okay na ako doon."
Alves said that he wasn't really aware of Article 247 the first time the project was offered to him. He thought it has something to do with 24/7.
A repealed law under the Revised Penal Code, Article 247 states that “any legally married person who having surprised his spouse in the act of committing sexual intercourse with another person, shall kill any of them or both of them in the act or immediately thereafter, or shall inflict upon them any serious physical injury, shall suffer the penalty of destierro (banishment).”
Alves said that he's interested to know the opinions of the viewers on the controversial law. "Makikita mo yung kanya kanyang opinion and comments kung saan ba sila nagsa side. Kung tama ba ang batas na ito or tama ba na in-abolish? Dapat ba nandito pa rin yung batas na yan? So we are really looking forward to the comments and reactions of the viewers, especially pagnalaman nila yung hatol kung ano ang mangyayari sa show."
In the latest series, Alves plays Noah Borromeo, an architect who is alcohol and drug dependent. It's the first time the Kapuso star will play a bad boy.
Alves also said: "Very depressed and suicidal si Noah because yung nangyari sa past niya na talagang i-a-uncover ng show. Hopefully, the viewers will see kung saan talaga siya nanggagaling.
"Sa character ko, makikita nila yung different side siguro, different attack, iba yung makikita nila. Medyo gray yung character na ito instead of being white most of the time, and it's my first time working with Rhian kaya hopefully magustuhan nila yung journey nina Jane at Noah. The title alone, Artikulo 247, is enough to get you engaged and to love our show," he said.
"This is my first soap with Rhian, although nakapagwork na kami sa 'Tadhana.' I like her as an actress, parang I've been a fan of her work. Sobrang lambing niya sa mga tao. She also offers us snacks, merienda so ganun siya ka thoughtful sa set. It's nice to have leading leadies like Rhian and Kris (Bernal) na maalaga," he added.
On his honest thoughts about the law, Alves said: "Experiencing from the show, kung nagagamit siya to get away with murder, especially from the show, I'm really on defense about it because parang justified naman. But is killing justified? Ang hirap eh. That's why I'm really looking forward to people's comments baka ma-convince ako from their comments kung ano bang dapat na side ako. Hopefully, huwag naman mangyari sa buhay namin yung pinagdaanan nila rito."
